This forum is pretty slow, so thought I'd post some advice!!
You always get a blank (sometimes 2) in the first rack. I don't know how many times I've seen someone use their blank in their first move for, say, 8 points.
BLANKS ARE VALUABLE.
If it's the first move of the game, and the biggest word you can make WITHOUT the blank is "DINT" or whatever for 4 points... that's OKAY. Don't use the blank to make it DINTS. That only makes it 8 points (that is, 4 points more). BLANKS are your ticket to making a 7 letter word and collecting 45, 50, 60, maybe 70 points on one turn. You want to spend that blank in the FIRST turn just to make 8 points instead of 4?????
Take the crummy little 4 points. KEEP THE BLANK UNTIL THERE IS A CHANCE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT.
