Game-Specific Rules for Team Gin Yahoo Ladder

If any of these rules, here under "Game- Specific Rules", appear to be in conflict with anything stated elsewhere in other sections of the rules, then the rule in this section takes precedence.

Team Names
Your team name may NOT be offensive or abusive.

Player Names
If you play on Team Gin (Yahoo) and the Singles Gin (Yahoo) Ladder, you need to have a different name for each of the ladders. Teams should remind all new players of this rule as they join.

Team Name Prefixes (added 9/19/03) A team must have identification characters for their team players of no less than 2 characters which may include numbers, letters, underscores and/or name. These identifying characters and/or name must be the same for each member of the team. All team members must use this name to play any team game.

Team Playing
Both representatives of a team in a match must be listed on the team's roster. A team game is 2 vs 2.

Game Settings
All players need to agree on the table settings prior to starting the games on rated tables only. If agreement cannot be reached, the worst ranked team is then given the option of table settings - the points and variation (Oklahoma or no Oklahoma.) and they would have the option of creating the table.

Challenges
Teams must make and accept all challenges in the lobby. Use of message sending programs like ICQ, AOL/IM, or Yahoo! Messenger (including IMs) is strictly prohibited.

Each team may play any other team up to 3 times per day.

If more than one team challenges your team at the same time, then challenges should be taken in the highest rank order.

Disconnections And Incomplete Matches
If a player is disconnected, they have 10 minutes to return. If AFTER the 10 minutes, the booted player has not returned, this team has 2 options:

- Forfeit the match and immediately report the loss.

- Have a substitute continue for the departing player at the same score. A valid substitute is any player on the same team as the departing player who is not in another team match at the time.

Note: If the team using the substitute wins, the substitute gets credit for the win. If the team loses, unless all players agree otherwise, the original player gets credit for the loss.

Unmelding (added 9/19/03)
Unmelding is considered unsportsmanlike and is therefore prohibited on the last hand to insure your team a win.

If a team unmelds on the last hand of a game, to win the team game, they forfeit the win, and must report the loss immediately.

Explanation: Unmelding is defined as a player eliminating the blue line over a meld or reclicking to undo the meld effectively creating deadwood to go out within their partners spread or cushioned points to win the overall team game.
